Our Organization

About the Young Democrats at Virginia Tech

The club is comprised of Virginia Tech students who support and encourage Democratic ideals and principles. Our mission is to improve our society through peaceful reform and effective government. However, the Virginia Tech Young Democrats wish also to be active in the campus community, and not merely a political organization. We have been active in service projects, voter registration drives, and have also sponsored several speakers who have come to speak to Virginia Tech students.

Who are the Young Democrats at Virginia Tech?

We are members of all ages, races, religions, nationalities and lifestyles. If you would like to help make this country an even better place to live, work, and raise future generations, we want you to become a part of our organization.

What is required of membership?

We ask that all members contribute their time and talents to the extent they feel comfortable.  However, in order to allow us to hold events and operate as an organization, we do ask for minimal dues.

How can I join?

The Young Democrats at Virginia Tech hold meetings every Tuesday evening at 9:00 p.m.  The meeting room is posted on the home page. We look forward to seeing you there! If you have other commitments and cannot make it to the regular meeting time, please drop us a line so that we can keep in touch for future events.

What can I look forward to?

Aside from our meetings, the Young Democrats are active in campaigns for Democratic candidates at the local, state, and federal levels. We participate in voter registration and awareness efforts, attend regional and national political conventions, and support various non-profit organizations that work to make our campus, our town, and our country a better place.
